Description

The Sanyo MPC-25 a.k.a. Wavy 25 is a computer that is very similar to the Philips NMS-8250, but has less RAM (64kB instead of 128kB) and only one cartridge slot.

Actually, both companies were working together, what explains the strong resemblances in the design of several MSX2 computers, while aiming at different markets (Japan for Sanyo, Europe for Philips).

This machine comes with a separate keyboard and in 4 different versions:

  • MPC-25F - 64kB VRAM, 1DD disk drive - official price: ¥118,000
  • MPC-25FS - 128kB VRAM, 1DD disk drive
  • MPC-25FK - 128kB VRAM, 2DD disk drive, Kanji-ROM Level 1 - official price: ¥125,000
  • MPC-25FD - 128kB VRAM, 2DD disk drive, was sold with graphic tool on disk - official price: ¥135,000

The main unit is always in white, the keyboard in gray and the special keys in black, the other keys can be gray or yellow.

A space is provisioned for the addition of a second disk drive but cannot be used due to the way the video, diskdrive (and kanji) PCB has been build inside the machine. However, the MPC-25FK model has a connector for a second external diskdrive.
