The HC-80 was aimed at the Japanese market and features a Japanese keyboard. It is available in black.

Official price: ¥84,800.

The firmware is launched automatically when you boot the machine. Bypassing this software on startup requires the user to press the DEL key during boot until a Beep sound.

It includes 3 options: access to MSX-BASIC, Tiny Synth (that uses the MSX keyboard as music keyboard), Tiny Graph (a graphical application to make three different kinds of charts: pie, bar and graph).

It seems that Tiny Synth was also sold as apart cartridge. It can be viewed as a simplified version of Super Synth.

The HC-80 is an ordinary MSX2 without superimposing capability. The CPU is an Z80A processor from Zilog or Sharp (LH0080A) at 3.58 MHz and an MSX-Engine from Yamaha (S3527).

The 64kB RAM is split in half between the slots 0-0 and 0-2, a configuration that can cause poorly written software to crash. Also, with this layout, the POKE-1,(15-PEEK(-1)\16)*17 trick to workaround buggy software that does not handle subslots properly will not work on this machine.
